As a Vancouver wedding photographer, I get asked about the weather a lot. And it makes sense. Vancouver is one of the most beautiful places to get married. There are stunning mountain views, lush forests, beaches, gardens, and city venues… truly something for every couple. But along with all that beauty comes one thing we can't always predict: the weather.

One of the biggest pieces of advice I give couples is always to have a backup rain plan. And I mean always. Even if your wedding (or engagement session!) is in the middle of summer, and the forecast looks perfect. Trust me, Vancouver weather likes to keep us on our toes.

The good news? The right venue can relieve any weather-related stress. Some venues are just incredibly well-prepared, with beautiful indoor spaces and backup plans. And after years of photographing weddings across Vancouver, these are the rain-friendly venues I find myself recommending time and time again.

The Wallace Venue at The Shipyards

If you're looking for a venue that blends Vancouver's industrial history with a modern, elevated feel, The Wallace is hard to beat. Located in the heart of The Shipyards, the venue features vaulted ceilings, stunning architecture, and those waterfront views.

One of my favorite things about The Wallace is that the indoor ceremony space doesn't feel like a compromise… it's genuinely stunning. Whether you're using it as a rain plan or simply want the comfort of shade and air conditioning, it photographs beautifully. Bonus: if you're inviting around 100 guests or fewer, there's enough room to host both your ceremony and reception without needing a room flip.

The Greenhouse

The Greenhouse feels like stepping into a secret garden. Surrounded by flowers and greenery on Sumas Mountain, this intimate glass venue is flooded with natural light thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows and glass ceiling. It offers all the beauty of an outdoor wedding without worrying about the weather. The adjacent wood alcove adds a cozy cabin feel, while the covered Pavilion provides a gorgeous space for outdoor-style dining.

For couples planning a micro wedding or elopement, The Greenhouse offers one of the best rain-friendly setups around. Even if the forecast isn't cooperating, you'll still get all the dreamy garden vibes.

Cecil Green Park House

If fairytale weddings are your thing, Cecil Green Park House deserves a spot on your venue tour list. This Tudor-style mansion is tucked away on the UBC campus and feels worlds away from the city. Between the private gardens, ocean views, mountain backdrops, fireplaces, and historic architecture, there are beautiful details everywhere you look.

Rain plans are also seamless here. If the weather turns, ceremonies can easily move to the covered terrace or indoors without sacrificing the elegance and charm that make this venue so special.

Brock House

If you're dreaming of an oceanfront wedding but still want a solid rain plan, Brock House is one of Vancouver's best-kept secrets. Above Jericho Beach, this historic Tudor Revival mansion offers panoramic ocean, mountains, and English Bay views, all surrounded by 2.5 acres of beautifully maintained gardens. The grounds feel peaceful and secluded, while still being right in the city.

One of the biggest perks? Their signature marquee tent. Couples can enjoy the beauty of an outdoor celebration while staying protected from Vancouver's unpredictable weather. Brock House is a venue that feels magical no matter what the forecast has in store.

Hycroft Manor

Hycroft Manor is one of the most versatile wedding venues in Vancouver. This historic Edwardian mansion offers multiple indoor and outdoor spaces, making it a fantastic option regardless of the season. The Rose Garden is a favorite for ceremonies and cocktail hour, while the Terrace provides a covered option featuring the venue's iconic grand staircase.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, there are several beautiful indoor spaces, including the Drawing Room and Green Solarium, that feel just as elegant as the outdoor settings. It's one of those rare venues where Plan B is just as beautiful as Plan A.

The Vancouver Club

For couples dreaming of a sophisticated city wedding, The Vancouver Club delivers. With more than 130 years of history, this iconic private club is filled with timeless architecture, elegant interiors, and a distinctly editorial feel. The Ballroom, Gold Bar, Georgian Room, and other event spaces allow plenty of flexibility depending on your guest count and vision.

Since everything can take place indoors, it's one of the easiest venues to recommend for rainy Vancouver wedding days. You get all the luxury and atmosphere without spending the week before your wedding refreshing the weather app.

Green Tee Country Club

Green Tee Country Club is one of those venues that always surprises people. It sits high above the city with sweeping views over the Fraser Valley, and once you’re up there, it feels quiet, scenic, and totally removed from the chaos below.

You can host an outdoor ceremony for up to 250 guests, or choose from a few different indoor spaces depending on your guest count and, of course, the weather! The best part? Everything’s handled in-house (catering, coordination, and setup), which makes the day run really smoothly even if the weather isn’t ideal.

VanDusen Botanical Garden

I know what you're thinking: a botanical garden on a list of rain-friendly venues? But hear me out. While VanDusen Botanical Garden is known for its incredible gardens and outdoor ceremony spaces, its backup options are equally impressive. The Visitor Centre and Floral Hall feature floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the surrounding greenery, meaning you still get beautiful natural light and garden views even if it rains. It offers the best of both worlds—an outdoor feel with an indoor safety net.

Stanley Park Pavilion

Stanley Park Pavilion combines heritage charm with one of Vancouver's most iconic natural settings. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, it's easy to see why couples love getting married here. The Front Garden Lawn and Side Lawn provide stunning outdoor ceremony options, while the Lord Stanley Ballroom and Tea Room offer warm, elegant indoor alternatives if the weather changes. With its historic character, wood-burning fireplace, and seamless indoor-outdoor flow, it's a venue that works beautifully, rain or shine.

The Permanent

The Permanent is proof that indoor weddings can be every bit as breathtaking as outdoor ones. Originally built as a Bank of Canada branch, this restored heritage building features soaring ceilings, ornate crown moulding, bronze chandeliers, and one of the most beautiful stained-glass atriums in the city. Since everything takes place indoors, the weather is never a concern. If you're looking for a venue with character, history, and architectural wow-factor, The Permanent checks all the boxes.

Swaneset Bay Resort & Country Club

Swaneset feels like a European chateau tucked away in the Fraser Valley. Surrounded by mountain views and beautifully manicured grounds, it's one of the most recognizable wedding venues in the region. Couples can choose from several ceremony locations, including the Main Lawn, Sunset Patio, Garden Terrace, or the Grand Ballroom. And that's exactly why it's such a great rain-friendly option. If the weather shifts, the ballroom provides a beautiful backup space without sacrificing the elegance or flow of the day.
